Bio

Sayen joins the Michigan Tech Cross Country and Track & Field staff as a Volunteer Assistant Coach in spring 2024. Sayen brings experience as one of the most distinguished endurance athletes in Michigan Tech's recent history. As an athlete on both the Cross Country and Track and Field teams he received multiple awards, including the Raymond L. Smith Award for outstanding senior athlete, the Terry Wilson Award for outstanding Freshman athlete, and CSC Academic All-America.  He had the highest finish in program history with a 16th place at the 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championships in Seattle, Wash. leading the men's team to a program best 10th place team finish. He currently holds the school records for Outdoor Track & Field in the 800m (1:49.27) and 1500m (3:43.84).  His 5k Pr is 14:23.42. He is a two-time All-American, for his 16th place finish at the 2022 Cross Country National Championships and his 11th place finish in the 1500m at the 2022 Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.

Sayen is a Houghton, Mich. native. He graduated from Houghton High School and Michigan Tech with a BA in Engineering Management and a Masters in Business Administration.
