Men's Tennis wraps up ITA Tournament
Michigan Tech men's tennis finished up three days of singles and doubles competition in the ITA Midwest Region Tournament, hosted by Grand Valley State on Sunday. In A bracket singles, Nikolai Prosjanykov fell in round one to No. 16 seed Mario Aleksic (Maryville) 6-0, 6-2. Prosjanykov rebounded for a 6-3, 6-3 win over Frank Piana (Davenport) in consolation before going out to Leon Grundstrom (Northwood) 6-4, 6-3. Junior Vitor Jordao took No. 7 seed Dominic Spicer (Wayne State) to a first set tiebreak but lost 7-6 (2), 6-1. In consolation, Jordao downed Brendan Everhart (Quincy) but fell to Andrin Saner (Drury) in a super-tiebreak 5-7, 6-4, 10-7.

PREVIEW: Men's Tennis prepares for ITA Regionals
Several members of the Michigan Tech men's tennis team will compete at the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament this weekend in Grand Rapids, Michigan beginning Friday and ending Sunday. The event features individual player competition in singles and doubles with a seeded bracket including players from each institution in the region.
Michigan Tech men’s and women’s tennis programs were recognized as 2021 ITA All-Academic Teams by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Several players also earned ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades.

Huskies fall 6-1 on Senior Day
Michigan Tech men's tennis concluded its 2020-21 spring season Monday with a 6-1 loss to Lake Superior State in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference competition at Gates Tennis Center. The Lakers won a pair of tight tiebreakers in doubles, then took five singles matches to put away the Huskies, who ended the year with a record of 0-12. Eli Pinnoo was a singles winner for MTU over Xavier Vicent Navarro 3-6, 7-6(4), 15-13. Both players saved multiple match points before Pinnoo finally finished it off. Pinnoo played alongside Siddhesh Mahadeshwar in doubles against his brother Seth Pinnoo, a match which also reached a tiebreaker.

Ferris State Hands Tech 6-1 Loss
The Huskies came up short in men's tennis Saturday afternoon and lost 6-1 to undefeated Ferris State at Gates Tennis Center in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action. The Huskies (0-11, 0-6 GLIAC) remained winless on the season, while the Bulldogs clinched their fifth GLIAC regular season championship in six years in Houghton. Ferris State (13-0, 8-0 GLIAC) surrendered just three total games to sweep doubles, then earned wins singles positions 1-5. Nico Caviglia provided a bright spot for Michigan Tech with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles over Andrew Swirzek. Ricardo Nunez fell 6-1, 6-1 to Yannic Mader at No. 1 singles.

Huskies Upended by Lakers 7-0
Siddhesh Mahadeshwar and Pinnoo put together a strong doubles performance but in the end, Michigan Tech men's tennis lost 7-0 to Grand Valley State at Gates Tennis Center in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Saturday. It was the 10th straight loss for the Huskies, who remain winless with two regular season matches left on the schedule. The Lakers took the team doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3, then swept singles, despite an admirable effort by Ricardo Nunez at No. 1, who lost 6-3, 6-3 to Martin Matov. Eli Pinnoo pushed Sean Miller to three sets at No. 2 but lost 6-3, 0-6, 3-6. The Huskies failed to pick up more than two games in a set in the other four singles positions.
