Huskies T&F Travels to Mustang Distance Carnival & Open

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech track & field team resumes the outdoor campaign with a two-day meet in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at the Mustang Distance Carnival and Open hosted by Mt. Mercy University.

The meet will showcase 15 teams with Friday's events starting at 6:30 p.m. EST and Saturday's events starting at 11 a.m. EST. Results of the meet can be found here.

Last Time Out

The Huskies opened the outdoor season on Mar. 28, at the St. Norbert Twilight, highlighted by a school record by Landon Cosby and 12 event winners.

Cosby reset his school record in the pole vault, clearing 16-01.25, bettering his previous record of 15-9 set at the Phil Esten Challenge a season ago. His mark currently ranks fifth in the GLIAC and 24th in the country.

Tech saw notable performances from the freshmen class, with Sophia Rhein (18:01.4) and Colman Lenci (15:09.56) running personal-bests to win the 5,000m races. Connor Stefanovsky also impressed in his collegiate outdoor debut, winning his first collegiate race in 1:57.54.

Hannah Kilpatrick made sizable strides with a 63 second personal-best in the 3,000m steeplechase taking second in 11:53.65.

Jamie Hendrickson is in a tie for second in the league after winning the women's high jump at the St. Norbert Twilight, clearing 5-3.

Three other performances are among the top five in the GLIAC, with Ryan Schwiderson's 400m time of 50.38 ranking fourth, Kyle Samluk's 3,000m steeplechase time of 9:47.53 and Sam Lange's 1:55.68 800m ranking fifth.
