Huskies T&F Open Season at St. Norbert’s Twilight

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech track & field squads travel to De Pere, Wisconsin, for its season opener at the St. Norbert's Twilight on Thursday, March 28.

Both field and running events will begin at 2 p.m. with the women competing before the men in all events. Live results of the meet can be found here. The meet will showcase three teams, with Lake Superior State also competing.

The Huskies got a jumpstart to the season with an indoor rust buster held in the MTU Ice Melter Open at the SDC Multi on Saturday, March 16, which produced notable marks in a variety of events. 

Anna Schueller, the school record holder in the women's pole vault, bettered her school record mark with a vault of 11-10. Landon Cosby, the men's pole vault school record holder, cleared a height of 15-3.5 to lead the trio of Husky vaulters.

In the sprints, Ryan Schwiderson and Ashley Plum controlled the 200m & 400m, pulling off the double-win. 

Sam Lange pulled a trio of Huskies to sub 1:57 performances in the 800m, clocking a blistering 1:55.68 on the indoor short track. First-year Brandon Latta posted a 1:56.29 effort, with John Paul Norland clocking a 1:56.90.

MTU had notable performances in the 5,000m as Naseem Dhaouadi ran away from the competition in the men's race with a time of 15:10.87. Freshman Sophia Rhein clocked an 18:24.52 with pacing help from Cedar Gordon, who won the women's mile in 5:20.95.
