Lange & Sayen Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

AUSTIN – Michigan Tech cross country and track & field student-athletes Sam Lange and Clayton Sayen have been selected to the CSC Academic All-District Team (formerly CoSIDA) announced Wednesday.

Lange, a native of Washington, Illinois, was runner-up in the 1,500m at the GLIAC Championships, and ran an NCAA Provisional Qualifying time of 3:46.11 in the 1,500m. During the cross country season, Lange was the third scorer for the Huskies, placing 49th overall, helping the Black & Gold to a program-best 10th-place team finish. He also earned All-Region honors for his 15th-place finish at the Midwest Region Cross Country Championships. In the classroom, Lange holds a 3.97 GPA studying mechanical engineering.

Sayen, a local of Houghton, Michigan, was an NCAA Qualifier in the 1,500m, placing 15th at the National Championships. At the GLIAC Outdoor Conference Championships, he won the 1,500m breaking his own meet record in a time of 3:47.22, while also anchoring the men's 4x400m, who narrowly missed the school record, taking second-place overall in 3:18.94. This past fall, Sayen placed 16th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, the best ever done by a Husky, being the highest individual finisher in Michigan Tech history while leading the Black & Gold to a program-best 10th-place team finish. Sayen was also All-region and All-GLIAC during the cross country season. In the classroom, Sayen holds a 3.87 GPA completing his master's in business administration.
