MTUTF to Compete at Golden Grizzlies Invite

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech track & field team is heading downstate for the third meet of the outdoor season, competing in the Golden Grizzlies Invite at the Elaine Leigh Track & Field Complex on the campus of Oakland University, on Saturday, April 8.

The field events will take place at noon, starting with the women's hammer throw, while the running events will start at 12:30 p.m. with the 4x100m relay. Of note, races will be ran fastest heat first except for the men's and women's 5,000m. 

The Huskies will bring their most complete team to date to the Golden Grizzlies Invite traveling a roster of 62 competing at the meet. Live results of the meet can be found here.

Last Time Out

The Black & Gold posted six event winners to go with a tie for the school record in the women's pole vault, as senior Ellie Zimmerman and freshmen Anna Schueller both soared to new program and personal-best heights, clearing 11-9.75 (3.60m)

The duo broke the school record set back in 2015 by Erika Poli with a mark of 11-6.5 (3.52m).

The event winners at the Pioneer Opener in Platteville, Wisconsin, last weekend was Kyle Samluk (3,000m steeplechase), Mady VanWieren (1,500m), John Paul Norland (800m), Ashley Plum (200m), Andrew Lewis (400m hurdles) and Jamie Hendrickson (high jump).

One Last Thing

Through two meets, the Huskies have amassed 32 marks within the top-10 among the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference.

Along with last weekend's school record in the women's pole vault, Drew Kolodge also broke a school record, coming in the 10,000m at the Raleigh Relays on March 24.
