Track Teams Open 2016 at Northern Michigan Challenge

MARQUETTE, Mich. — Michigan Tech's track and field team got its first taste of competition at the Northern Michigan Challenge held indoors at the Superior Dome on Saturday. Huskies athletes won six men's events and four women's events on the day.

Men's wins came in the following events:
Jevon Maddox in the 400m (50.39)
Jason Saliga in the Mile (4:26.66)
Dan Kulas in the 3,000m (8:58.68)
Shane McGrath in the 55m hurdles (8.11)
Nate Hood in the Long Jump (6.75m)
Men's 4x400 relay (3:40.19)

Women's wins came in the following events:
Jamie Dompier in the 200m (26.00)
Lauren Tetzloff in the 400m (1:02.41)
Jenna Burns in the Shot Put (12.91m)
Women's 4x400 relay (4:09.56)

"Overall it was a great opportunity for our athletes to race and compete against the other UP universities," said Michigan Tech graduate assistant track and field coach Jake Isaacson. "We'll use these results as a benchmark as we continue to train hard for the outdoor season ahead."

Michigan Tech's first outdoor meet is scheduled for March 12 at the Coastal Carolina Invitational in Conway, South Carolina.
