Owen White Earns Third Team Academic All-American

Michigan Tech men’s basketball guard Owen White was selected to the 2020-21 Academic All-America Third Team in an announcement made by CoSIDA Thursday. White was recognized as one of the nation’s top student-athletes for his combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-America program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA. White previously earned Academic All-District on May 10.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late May.
Buettner Named Men’s Basketball Head Coach

Associate Head Coach Josh Buettner has been elevated to Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Michigan Tech, following the retirement of Kevin Luke on Thursday (Apr. 15). Buettner becomes the 12th head coach in program history, effective immediately.

Michigan Tech Head Men’s Basketball Coach Kevin Luke announced his retirement on Thursday (Apr. 15), following his 27th season as leader of the program. Over his distinguished head coaching career, Luke amassed 471 career victories, making him the winningest coach amongst Tech’s NCAA Division II sports. Coach Luke carefully considered this decision and felt the time was right following the Huskies memorable run to the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Championship game.

Men’s Basketball Announces 2020-21 Team Awards

Michigan Tech men’s basketball head coach Kevin Luke has announced five team award winners for the 2020-21 season. Junior guard Owen White was selected for the Ken Hamar Award given to the Most Valuable Player.
Tech men’s basketball inks recruit Dawson Nordgaard

Dawson Nordgaard of De Pere, Wisconsin has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Huskies in 2021-22, announced the Michigan Tech men’s basketball coaching staff on Tuesday. Nordgaard plays forward for West De Pere High School, where he has been First Team All-Conference (2021) and Honorable Mention All-Conference (2020).

Michigan Tech junior guard Owen White has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches' (NABC) Division II All-America, announced Tuesday by the national office. The teams are selected and voted on by NABC member coaches of NCAA Division II. The award follows White's selection as NABC Division II All-Midwest Region First Team on Monday.

Michigan Tech men’s basketball's historic season came to a heartbreaking end Tuesday night with a 65-62 loss to Truman State (20-2) in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Championship at Ford Center. The Huskies overcame a 10-point halftime but fell just short in the final seconds, missing a chance to advance to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history.

The No. 2 seed Huskies will face No. 1 seed Truman Tuesday, March 16 at 8 p.m. EST in Evansville, Indiana at Ford Center. Huskies Silence Screaming Eagles in NCAA Region Semifinal

Dominating both ends of the floor, Michigan Tech knocked down No. 3 seed University of Southern Indiana 81-69 Sunday night at Ford Center in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Semifinals. The Huskies advanced to the Midwest Regional Championship game for the first time since 2013-14 and tied the longest post-season run in program history. The No. 2 seeded Huskies (15-7) will play No. 1 seed Truman for the opportunity to advance to the Elite Eight Tuesday night at 8 p.m.

Michigan Tech men's basketball received votes in the final NCAA Division II National Association of Basketball Coaches' (NABC) Top 25 poll, announced this week by the National office. It is the second time this season that the Huskies have been represented in the National coaches' poll.

After falling to Ashland in the GLIAC Championship game Sunday, Michigan Tech men’s basketball is back for more postseason play this week. The Huskies earned an at-large bid as the second seed in the NCAA Midwest Regional Tournament. Earning a bye in the opening round, Tech awaits the winner of Southern Indiana (11-4) and Lewis University (14-9), who play Saturday. Truman State (18-2), Wayne State (12-6), and Ashland (14-8) also punched their ticket in the Midwest Region. The Huskies begin their quest for the Division II Elite Eight Sunday at 9:30 p.m. EST.
