Eight airports serve the region. Houghton County Memorial Airport (CMX) is nine miles from the Michigan Tech Trails, and is served by two daily United flights direct from Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD). The other seven airports (ranging in size from largest to smallest and approximate driving times) are:

  1. Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) (Minneapolis, Minn.) - 330 miles/6.5 hours
  2. Milwaukee (WI) Mitchell Airport (MKE) - 340 miles/6 hours
  3. Green Bay (WI) Austin Straubel International Airport (GRB) - 215 miles/4 hours
  4. Duluth International Airport (DLH) (Duluth, Minn.) - 225 miles/4.5 hours
  5. Marquette (MI) Sawyer International Airport (MQT) - 100 miles/2 hours
  6. Rhinelander-Oneida County (WI) Airport (RHI) - 130 miles/2.5 hours
  7. Iron Mountain (MI) Ford Airport (IMT) - 115 miles/2.5 hours

All airports have car and/or van rental agencies.
