HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech cross country teams are prepped to begin postseason competition as they travel to New Boston, Michigan, for the GLIAC Conference Championships, held at Willow Metropark on Friday (Nov. 4). The women will compete first with the gun going off at 11 a.m. with the men following at 11:45 a.m.

A live stream of the championships will be available on Flosports. Results of the championships can be found here.

Last year, the men of Michigan Tech ran to a runner-up finish while the women placed fourth.

The men return three Huskies that earned All-GLIAC at the championships last year, with Clayton Sayen placing fourth overall while Sam Lange (13th place) and Nick Niemi (23rd place) ran to Second Team All-GLIAC accolades. The women also had two All-GLIAC performers in Michelle Bollini (11th place) and a Second Team All-GLIAC effort from Sam Kurkowski, placing 19th overall.

Michigan Tech was at the GLIAC championships course a few weeks ago, racing the Warrior Challenge on Oct. 22. A majority of the men's squad took the weekend off of racing, however, Tucker Ringhand led the Huskies with his ninth-place finish, running 25:28.10.

Similarly for the women, the bulk of the Huskies top-runners took the weekend away from races. Jesse Jacobusse placed 16th in the race, marking her highest finish of the season, crossing the finish line in 22:53.0.

One Last Thing

Both Huskies' squads remained in the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll in the last poll of the regular season. Despite not competing in the final week of the regular season, the men's team jumped up one spot to No. 20, marking the 10th-straight week the Huskies have been in the rankings dating back to week six of last season. The women hold down the No. 27 spot, being ranked for five weeks in a row.

In the Midwest regional rankings, the men remain in the fourth spot while the women are sixth.
