ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Michigan Tech women's and men's cross country teams both competed at the Conference Crossover Invitational, finishing ninth and 19th respectively.

Ranking fourth in the Midwest region and 15th in the country, the Michigan Tech women scored 269 points to finish in ninth place. The Huskies finished three points ahead of 10th-place Point Loma and 28 points behind eighth-place Saginaw Valley State.

Junior Emily Byrd was the top finisher for Michigan Tech on Saturday, competing the 6k course in 22:01.3 to finish sixth. Senior Liz Bloch was the next-highest finisher for Michigan Tech, coming in 35th with a time of 23:01.9.

Also scoring points for the Huskies was senior Emily Vigil (23:28.6) in 66th, senior Sophia Farquhar (23:44.4) in 78th, senior Robyn Holmes (23:49.5) in 84th, sophomore Katherine Schneider (24:10.2) in 108th, and freshman Michelle Bollini (24:10.4) in 109th.

"Emily had a great race, but the rest of the women were a bit off," said Isaacson.

On the men's side, the Huskies scored 508 points to place 19th. The Black and Gold finished 21 points ahead of 20th-place Lewis and 47 points behind Colorado Mesa in 18th.

Leading the way for the men was sophomore Braden Reichl, who finished 54th with a personal-best time of 25:54.2. Reichl has crossed the finish line first among all Tech runners for the third time this season.

"Braden had another breakthrough today," said Isaacson. "He'll be looking to put himself in the All-Conference positions at the GLIAC Championships."

Also scoring for the Black and Gold on the men's side was sophomore Luke Moore (26:18.5) in 90th, freshman Clayton Sayen (26:40.0) in 115th, sophomore Zach Werth (26:41.7) in 118th, sophomore Logan Lukonic (27:20.5) in 167th, freshman Ben Passolt (27:41.10) in 190th, and sophomore Robbie Watling (27:46.8) in 198th.

Up next on the docket for the men's and women's cross country teams is the UP Championships. Hosted by Northern Michigan University, the race will be held on October 19 at the NMU Golf Course.
