Huskies head back to Duluth for NCAA Regionals

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech Nordic ski team heads to Duluth, Minnesota for the NCAA Central Region Championships this weekend. The Huskies will compete in the classic 5/10K Saturday and the skate 15/20K Sunday.

Tech returns to Grand Avenue Nordic Center where the season began on December 4-5. Henriette Semb had a pair of podium finishes in the season opener in the skate sprint and classic distance, while Adam Witkowski also found the podium in the skate sprint.

Nea Katajala won her first collegiate race last weekend to become the CCSA Classic Champion. She talks about her fitness heading into the regionals, "My endurance has been getting better and better after each race, and now I know that I am in a good shape. I have not stressed too much about the races and have just enjoyed and had fun in every race, and I will keep doing that this weekend."

Skylar Patten has solidified himself as a leader on the men's team after a pair of second-place finishes at the CCSA Championships last weekend. Patten is still seeking that first win, "I am looking forward to the last attempt for a win this season in the CCSA. I am especially excited for the mass start and being able to try a new strategy on the Duluth course."
