Hockey Closes Season at No. 16 in USCHO Poll

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech hockey team checked in at No. 16 in the final USCHO.com poll of the 2015-16 season, which was announced today.

The Huskies earned the MacNaughton Cup as WCHA regular-season champions and won 23 games in 2015-16, marking the first back-to-back 20-win seasons for the program since 1981-83. Michigan Tech's 52 wins over the last two campaigns is the highest total in the WCHA and fourth best mark in the nation, behind only North Dakota (63), Quinnipiac (55) and Providence (53).

Seven members of the 2015-16 Tech squad earned All-WCHA recognition, including Alex Petan, who was named WCHA Player of the Year, and Jamie Phillips, who took home WCHA Outstanding Student-Athlete honors. Petan also earned a spot on the Hobey Baker Memorial Award top-10 list and was named to the AHCA/CCM Hockey All-America West Second Team.
