Laura De Marchi named CoSIDA Academic All-District

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech senior Laura De Marchi has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Volleyball Team for the third straight season. De Marchi is a setter from Milan, Italy, and holds a 3.79 grade-point average in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering.

De Marchi has led Michigan Tech to its second straight GLIAC Regular Season Championship this season, averaging 11.55 assists per set to lead the GLIAC and rank sixth in the nation. She has tallied 1,016 assists this season, 259 digs (2.94 d/s), 68 kills, 42 blocks, and 27 service aces for the top 20-ranked Huskies.

De Marchi is Michigan Tech's all-time leader in career assists with 5,329. Her 11.79 assists per set for her career is tops in program history and she also ranks seventh with 1,324 digs.

During the spring season, De Marchi was named the GLIAC Player of the Year, the GLIAC Setter of the Year for the fourth straight season, and to the All-GLIAC First Team for the fourth year in a row. She was also named a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American, the GLIAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and a recipient of the GLIAC Commissioner's Award.

The Academic All-District Volleyball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The All-District teams are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot which will be announced in early December.

The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs.
