Tech Volleyball Loses to Ferris State in GLIAC Quarterfinals

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – Lauren Emmert and Aubrey Ficek both had nine kills and Jacqueline Aird had a match-high 16 digs, but the Michigan Tech volleyball team fell to top-seeded Ferris State 3-0 in the GLIAC quarterfinals tonight (Nov. 18) at Ewigleben Sports Arena.

Tech closes the books on the 2015 season with its highest win total (19) since 2008, including a program-record 10-0 start to the campaign. The Huskies appearance in the GLIAC tournament was their first since 2009.

"We lost to a darn good team tonight," said head coach Matt Jennings. "I suspect that they'll go far into the postseason. They simply don't make many mistakes and they are as disciplined as any team out there."

Michigan Tech stayed with No. 3 Ferris State early in each of the three sets before the Bulldogs pulled away and eventually won 25-17, 25-18 and 25-14.

Tech's best set statistically was the opener, where it hit .306 as a team and had just two hitting errors in 36 total attempts.

Mariah Sherman (8) and Stephanie Dietrich (4) combined for 12 kills, and Rachel Pohlod collected 27 assists to go along with 12 digs.

Michigan Tech's season ends with a 19-12 record, including a 10-8 mark in the GLIAC.
