Tech Volleyball Ends Weekend with 3-1 Loss at Wayne State

DETROIT – Noelle Eveland and Mariah Sherman tied with a team-high 10 kills but the Michigan Tech volleyball team fell in a four-set decision today (Nov. 7) to Wayne State at the Matthaei Center.

"We did not play well at all today," said head coach Matt Jennings. "It was disappointing considering how we played last night. We know that we didn't do what was needed to beat an offensive team like Wayne State."

The Huskies started the match by taking the opening set, 25-21. The two teams traded runs early in the frame before Wayne State opened an 18-16 gap. Jennings used a timeout to rally the troops and Tech responded by earning nine of the final 12 points to clinch the victory.

The Warriors answered, though, and won the final three sets 25-16, 25-22 and 25-18.

Jacqueline Aird once again led MTU's defensive efforts and collected a match-high 22 digs. Rachel Pohlod chipped in 18 digs of her own to go along with 33 assists.

Michigan Tech (18-10 overall; 9-7 GLIAC), which currently sits at No. 7 in the GLIAC standings, finishes out its regular-season schedule next weekend (Nov. 13-14) at Northwood and Lake Superior State.
