Tech Volleyball Knocked Off by UW-Parkside

SOMERS, Wis. – Sylvie Rokosh hit .333 and Jacqueline Aird and Rachel Pohlod each notched 14 digs, but the Michigan Tech volleyball was upended by UW-Parkside tonight (Sept. 22) at the Desimone Gymnasium.

The loss marks the first of the season for Tech, which set a school record by opening the year 10-0.

"Credit goes to Parkside for coming to play," said head coach Matt Jennings. "We simply couldn't find a rhythm tonight and struggled. Sylvie really played well but didn't get much support at times. We'll be better on Friday as Ashland is another good squad."

UW-Parkside took the first set, 25-17, before coming from behind in the middle set for a 25-21 win. The Rangers closed out the match with a 25-17 victory in set No. 3.

Aubrey Ficek led the Huskies with nine kills, and Rokosh and Mariah Sherman added eight kills each.

Michigan Tech (10-1 overall, 2-0 GLIAC) returns to conference play with a pair of matches this weekend in Houghton. The Huskies take on Ashland Friday (Sept. 25) at 7 p.m. before playing Lake Erie Saturday (Sept. 26) at 3 p.m.
