INDIANA, Pa. - For the second day in a row the Michigan Tech
volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Crimson Hawk
Invitational. The Huskies dropped a heart breaking 3-2 loss to the
host Indiana (Pa.) before defeating Coker 3-0.
“The weekend was a good one,” said head coach Matt
Jennings. “We were able to take away some good things, and we
are definitely improving everyday. We were only four points away
from going 4-0.”
Aubrey Havlichek led the Huskies by hitting .444, including 12
kills, in the loss to Indiana (Pa.) (22-25, 25-18, 25-16, 23-25,
13-15). She also had four blocks.
Shelby Jones finished with 10 kills and five blocks, while Jordanna
Kero finished with a team-high 14 kills.
Jones had another stellar stat line against Coker (25-18, 25-21,
25-23) tallying 16 digs, nine kills, four aces and three
blocks.
Jacqueline Aird also had 16 digs, and Jordanna Kero contributed 11
kills.
“We came out with confidence against Coker,” said
Jennings. “Madeline Haben had a good weekend though not
statistically as she finished with 29 assists against
Coker.”
The Huskies (2-2) will play next weekend (Sept. 7-8) at the Black
Hills State Tournament.
