Volleyball Suffers First Conference Loss at SVSU
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Michigan Tech volleyball team suffered its first conference loss of the season at Saginaw Valley State Saturday (Sept. 15). The Cardinals defeated Tech 3-1 (25-18, 25-20, 25-27, 25-21).
"We played hard at times and got some strong play from freshman
Sylvie Rokosh at the net and from freshman Jackie Aird in the
back-court, but simply failed to execute consistently enough to
capitalize on the opportunities the match presented," said head
coach Matt Jennings.
The Huskies struggled on offense hitting .053, but were able to
stay in the match with strong defense. Tech finished with a 67-54
advantage in digs and posted 17 blocks (three solo, 14
assisted).
Madeline
Haben finished with a double-double thanks to 36 assists and 17
digs. Jacqueline Aird
also finished with 17 digs.
Aubrey
Havlichek recorded 10 kills and 3 block assists, and Shelby
Jones finished with a team-high 12 kills.
"We have to remain focused on the process and have faith that
our hard work will pay off as we grow as a unit," said Jennings.
"That will remain our focus this week in practice."
Tech (4-6, 1-1) will continue conference play at Ashland Sept.
