MTU Women’s Tennis Competes at ITA Regionals

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Michigan Tech women's tennis team will compete at the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament this weekend in Grand Rapids, Michigan beginning this Friday and running through Sunday. This event is individual player focused, including doubles matches, and is a bracketed format featuring players from each institution in the region.

Michigan Tech opened the 2019-20 season Saturday with a 6-1 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win at Lake Superior State University. The Huskies went 7-2 in the GLIAC a year ago and are off to a good start in the conference after Saturday's win. Tech won two of the three doubles matches and five of the six singles competitions against the Lakers.

The ITA Regional Championships feature some of the top men's and women's players across the country. Over 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete across 85 ITA Regional Championships around the country. In Division I, regional doubles champions and regional singles champions and finalists qualify for the season-ending Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.
