Walsh Downs Tech in Women's Tennis

CANTON, Ohio — The Michigan Tech women's tennis team suffered a 7-2 setback at Walsh today in a GLIAC contest. The Huskies are now 0-3 both overall and in league play.

Tech opened with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles from Kat Donovan and Erika Tenizbaeva. The Cavaliers claimed both Nos. 1 and 2 by 8-5 scores.

The Huskies' second point came at No. 5 singles, where Allenca Rolim posted a 7-5, 6-3 triumph. Walsh won in straight sets at Nos. 1, 2 and 6 singles. Emilia Tenizbaeva won the opening set but fell 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3. Natalia Parra Alvarez lost her first set at No. 4 before coming back and forcing a super tiebreaker. Her final score was 6-2, 4-6, 10-5.

Michigan Tech will return to action tomorrow with a 10 a.m. match at Ashland.
