Tennis Huskies Defeated at Wayne State 7-2

DETROIT — Wayne State defeated Michigan Tech 7-2 in GLIAC women's tennis today. Repeating the same pattern as most of the season so far, the Huskies won at the top flight in singles and doubles behind the strength of Kwang Suthijindawong and Sandra Cvetanovic.

The Tech duo, coming off their USTA/ITA Midwest Region Championship last weekend in which they defeated WSU's top doubles team, repeated the performance today. The Huskies downed Yahsha Moore and Anne Li Briand by an 8-6 score.

The Warriors took Nos. 2 and 3 doubles by scores of 8-0 and 8-3, respectively.

Suthijindawong defeated Moore by a 6-4, 7-5 count at No. 1 singles to continue her unbeaten GLIAC career (32-0). Cvetanovic was defeated 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles by Andreea Mitrache. The No. 3 singles flight saw a tightly contested match. Emilia Tenizbaeva was edged 4-6, 7-5, 10-7. The hosts claimed the other three flights in straight sets.

Michigan Tech (1-7 overall, 1-7 GLIAC) will travel to play at Hillsdale tomorrow at 11 a.m.
