Tech Suffers 7-2 Setback to Walsh in Women's Tennis

HOUGHTON, Mich. — Walsh defeated Michigan Tech 7-2 in GLIAC women's tennis today at Gates Tennis Center.

Kwang Suthijindawong continued her perfect season with wins at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. The junior defeated Sofya Logunova 6-3, 6-1 to improve to 29-0 in her GLIAC singles career. She also combined with Sandra Cvetanovic for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles.

The Cavaliers gained wins at Nos. 2-6 singles and Nos. 2-3 doubles. Three of the six singles flights that went in favor of Walsh were closely contested. Cvetanovic was edged 7-6 (5), 6-4 at No. 2 singles. Emilia Tenizbaeva forced a third set at No. 3 before falling 6-1, 2-6, 6-3. Kat Donovan dropped a third-set super tiebreaker 6-3, 0-6, 10-3 in her No. 6 singles match.

Michigan Tech will remain at home for its next two matches. The next is Sept. 19 vs. Saginaw Valley State at noon.
