Ferris State Bests Tech 7-2 in Women's Tennis

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — Michigan Tech wrapped up its open weekend of the women's tennis season with a 7-2 loss at Ferris State today. Once again, the Huskies' top player, Kwang Suthijindawong, was involved in both wins for the Black and Gold.

Suthijindawong earned a 6-1, 6-1 triumph, cruising past Shawnee-Ann Brelsford at No. 1 singles. Tech newcomer Natalia Parra Alvarez nearly pulled off her first collegiate win, but ultimately fell 7-5, 6-4 at No. 4 singles. The host Bulldogs won each of the flights from Nos. 2-6 in straight sets.

FSU took two of the three doubles flights. Michigan Tech's point came at No. 1 where Suthijindawong and Sandra Cvetanovic earned a 9-8 (5) victory.

The Huskies (0-2 overall, 0-2 GLIAC) will play their first three home matches of 2014-15 starting next week. Ohio Dominican comes to Gates Tennis Center on Thursday (Sept. 11).
