Walsh Hands Tech 6-3 Tennis Setback

CANTON, Ohio — The Michigan Tech women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision at Walsh today to wrap up a three-match road swing. The Huskies now sport a 2-4 overall record and identical GLIAC slate.

Natalia Lebedeva and Kwang Suthijindawong combined for an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles, but the Cavaliers claimed the other two spots by 8-1 scores for a 2-1 team lead after doubles.

For the first time this season, Lebedeva suffered a singles loss. Her match at No. 1 went to Walsh's Sofya Logunova by a 6-3, 6-2 count.

Suthijindawong earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles to improve to 5-0 on the year. Tech's other point came off the racquet of Audrey Hutton, who played to a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 5.

WU earned straight set wins at flights 3, 4 and 6.

Michigan Tech will return home for a few days before more road matches at Ferris State and Grand Valley State next Friday (Sept. 20) and Saturday (Sept. 21), respectively.
