VanLangevelde Named Goalkeeper of the Year; Five Huskies Named All-GLIAC

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech senior goalkeeper Gracie VanLangevelde has been named GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year while the Huskies place five on All-Conference teams, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 9). 

VanLangevelde has been vital to the Huskies success this season and ranks among the top-five in five GLIAC statistical categories. She is third in goals-against average (0.72), second in wins (6), third in shutouts (6), fourth in saves (47) and fourth in save percentage (.825). She was a two-time GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week, coming in week four and nine. 

This marks the first Goalkeeper of the Year award for the Huskies since the 2016 season when Kirsen Hudak earned the honor. 

In addition to VanLangevelde's major award, the Huskies saw VanLangevelde and Seulgi Lee tabbed All-GLIAC First Team honorees, Julia Pietila and Cassie Bonifas named to the All-GLIAC Second Team and Jordan Noble All-GLIAC Honorable Mention.

The Spring Lake, Michigan, native is now a two-time All-GLIAC First Team honoree, with her first coming a season ago.

Lee, hailing from Seoul, South Korea, was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week in week three and netted two goals in conference play this season with a team-leading 38 shots and 18 shots on goal. She has played in all 14 GLIAC matches, with the game-winning goal against Parkside on Sep. 17.

Pietila, a native of Hartland, Michigan, netted the game-winning goal at Purdue Northwest on Oct. 22 and accounted for the assist on the game-tying goal at Grand Valley State on Oct. 13. Her offensive presence has been felt in GLIAC play with 27 total shots playing in all 14 GLIAC contests this season. This is the first All-GLIAC accolade of her career.

Bonifas, coming from Pinckney, Michigan, has scored a team-high four goals in GLIAC play this season with a penalty kick goal against Purdue Northwest (Sep. 15) and the game-winner at Davenport (Oct. 15). She started all 14 GLIAC contests and accounted for a goal and assist in the 2-1 win at Ferris State on Sep. 24. Bonifas saved her best season for last, marking the first All-GLIAC nod of her career.

Noble, a Boyne City, Michigan, native, started all but one GLIAC match and had a season-high two shots at Saginaw Valley State (Sep. 22) and at Northern Michigan (Nov. 2), playing a pivital role for the Huskies attack to earn her first All-GLIAC honorable mention accolade.
