HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech soccer team fell 2-1 to Parkside in the GLIAC quarterfinals at Kearly Stadium on Monday afternoon.

The Huskies (8-4-7, 7-2-5 GLIAC) scored in the 20th minute off a free kick by Seulgi Lee to take a 1-0 lead before Parkside (7-7-4, 3-7-4 GLIAC) netted two goals in the final five minutes of regulation.

"It was a tough loss," head coach Turk Ozturk said. "I am incredibly proud of my team. I thought we played well in the first half, but we needed a second goal and we couldn't get it."

The Rangers tied the contest at 1-1 in the 85th minute off of a corner kick from Emily Mikkelson, which found Alexis Baker in the box for a header that went to the top-right corner of the net.

With less than two minutes remaining in the second half, Parkside struck again on a counterattack. Mikkelson delivered a cross from the right side, with Kate Brown hitting the game-winning goal with a sliding shot, which sailed high before finding the right side of the net with 1:37 in the game.

The Huskies outshot the Rangers 10-9 with chances at the opposition's goal either called offsides or wide of the net.

Brooke Green led the team with three shots, with two going just wide of the goal in the first half.

Michigan Tech also held an 8-6 advantage in corner kicks, while defensively, Gracie VanLangevelde made three saves in net.

Michigan Tech was ranked seventh in the most recent NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings and will await the announcement of NCAA qualifiers to see if their season continues.
