HOUGHTON, Mich. For the second time in three years, the Michigan Tech soccer team is playing host for the GLIAC Quarterfinals, facing Parkside at noon on Monday (Nov. 6).

The Huskies earned the No. 3 seed in the GLIAC tournament following a conference record of 7-2-5. Parkside takes to the road following a GLIAC ledger of 3-7-4, granting them the No. 6 seed in the tournament.

About the Game

It's win or go home in the eight-team GLIAC Tournament with the winners of the quarterfinal matches moving onto the semifinals set for Friday (Nov. 10) with the highest remaining seed hosting. Of note, the Huskies swept the Rangers in their two meetings during the regular season.

About the Rangers

Parkside concluded the GLIAC regular season with a 5-2 thumping at Purdue Northwest on Thursday (Nov. 2). The Rangers poured on a season-high five goals to earn the sixth seed in the GLIAC tournament. 

Alexis Baker leads the Rangers offense in points (13), shots on goal (13), goals (6) and game-winners (2). Emily Mikkelson is close behind with 12 points from five goals and two assists. 

Baker and Mikkelson posted two-goal games in Thursday's victory over PNW.

Parkside has seen action from three goalkeepers this season in Izzy Guyer, Mia Guyton and Kelsey Gross. Guyton and Gross have shared duties over the last few games. Guyton has 63 saves this season with a 1.31 goals-against average.

Baker and Guyer have earned GLIAC Player of the Week honors this season. Guyer was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week in week two, while Baker was tabbed GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week in week six. 

About the Huskies 

Michigan Tech earned the No. 3 seed in the GLIAC tournament following a 1-0 loss at Northern Michigan on Thursday (Nov. 2).

The Huskies found their offensive stride with Seulgi Lee and Cassie Bonifas accounting for a team-high five goals this season. Emilie Clayton and freshman Brooke Green have also scored multiple goals, with three apiece.

Offensively, the Black & Gold are averaging 1.22 goals per game on 12.3 shots per game and 6.2 corner kicks per game. 

Defensively, senior Gracie VanLangevelde has made 58 saves this season with a goals-against average of .78. She has started all 18 games this season with six shutouts. 

Lee and VanLangevelde have earned GLIAC Player of the Week honors this season. VanLangevelde earned Defensive Player of the Week honors in weeks four and nine. Lee was named Offensive Player of the Week accolades in Week three. 

One Last Thing 

The Huskies will look to turn the corner in tournament play, having not gotten past the GLIAC quarterfinals since the 2016-17 season when they made it to the GLIAC Championship game as the No. 3 seed.
