Women's Soccer Evens Record with 3-0 Win at St. Cloud

ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Michigan Tech scored twice in the first 13 minutes and added another goal early in the second half for a 3-0 win at St. Cloud State today. Lexi Herrewig scored her third goal of the season, and the Tech Huskies improved to 1-1 on the season.

"We played awesome," said Tech coach Michelle Jacob. "We played our game, possessed the ball well and attacked well. Our defense didn't really allow any great chances, either. It was a total team win today."

Herrewig's goal came just 2:10 into play as she headed in a corner kick for a 1-0 lead.

Ten minutes later, Jacqueline Mielke scored her first goal of the year. The Huskies had a corner kick that was deflected out to the far side and sent right back into the box, where Mielke finished it off.

Tech held a 13-6 advantage in shots at halftime. Madeline Faust made it 3-0 less than five minutes into the second half as the Huskies converted another corner kick opportunity.

Kirsen Hudak started in goal for the Black and Gold and made seven saves en route to the shutout.

Michigan Tech will play two more non-conference games in Minnesota next week with Minnesota Duluth on Saturday (Sept. 12) and Minnesota Crookston (at Duluth) on Monday (Sept. 14).
