Tech Soccer Picked Fourth in GLIAC Preseason Poll
BAY CITY, Mich. — Michigan Tech women's soccer enters the 2015 season picked to finish fourth in the GLIAC. The league announced its preseason poll today on its website, which includes previews and videos for each of 13 teams.
Tech is coming off its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance a year ago. The Huskies finished third in the GLIAC (8-2-2) and 11-5-2 overall. Sixth-year head coach Michelle Jacob brings back largely the same squad, with its top four point producers, a three-year starting goalkeeper and an all-region defender back in the mix.
Defending national champion Grand Valley State led the preseason poll with 143 points. Ohio Dominican (130) and Saginaw Valley State (117) also came in ahead of the Huskies (108). Ashland (104) was the fifth and final team to garner 100 points or more in the poll.
Michigan Tech will have to navigate a difficult 2015 schedule, which features only five of 16 games at home. The Black and Gold will play three home exhibition games before traveling to open their regular season Sept. 4 at Winona State.
