Soccer Suffers 1-0 Overtime Loss at Ashland

ASHLAND, Ohio — Ashland's goal with four seconds left in the first overtime session broke a scoreless tie and gave Michigan Tech its first GLIAC loss of the season. Allison Richards' header off a corner kick provided the winning margin in a battle between the second- and third-place teams in the league.

Tech took 13 shots and put eight of them on goal in the game. AU goalkeeper Rebecca Plescia saved all eight of those. Meanwhile, Jenna Phelps made nine saves in net for the Huskies including several that stopped one-on-one opportunities.

After a more defensive first half, both teams got scoring chances in the second. Tech held a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal in the frame with several coming in the first minutes of the half.

Michigan Tech (8-3-2 overall, 5-1-1 GLIAC) will look to bounce back from its first conference when it plays at Ohio Dominican Sunday (Oct. 20) at noon.
