HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech head women's basketball coach Sam Clayton is pleased to announce the addition of Janie Tormanen to the Michigan Tech program. Tormanen joins the Huskies after spending the last two seasons with NSIC affiliate Minnesota Crookston.

"We're really excited to add Janie to the Husky family. She's a physical and versatile post that has proven she can compete at the DII level," Clayton said. "I like her ability to score at the rim and defend multiple positions, but most importantly, she's a high academic student and a phenomenal teammate. She brings so much value both on and off the floor."

Tormanen, a native of Menahga, Minnesota, is graduating with a communications major and a writing minor from Minnesota Crookston and will pursue an MBA while at Michigan Tech. She started all 25 games in the 2023-24 campaign for the Golden Eagles, logging 27.7 minutes an outing, producing 12.3 points and 5.7 rebounds. She ranked second on the team in points and third in rebounds at UMC. Tormanen scored a career-high 27 points vs. Sioux Falls on Jan. 19 and recorded three double-doubles during her sophomore season.

Tormanen joins a recruiting class that has reached four for the Black & Gold with Ella Mason, Kendall Standfest and Kloe Zentowski.
