Huskies Receive Votes in Division II National rankings poll

WBCA - Michigan Tech women's basketball was among teams receiving votes in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA Division II National Top 25 poll, announced Tuesday afternoon.

The Huskies are 16-3 overall, 8-1 in GLIAC play. The last time the team made the Top-25 poll was December 7, 2021 coming in at No. 24. MTU appeared inside the Top 25 twice last season and six times in 2020-21, topping out at No. 6.

Tech is currently on a six-game win streak and the team has two wins over Top-25 opponents this season. MTU remained undefeated at home Saturday (8-0) after defeating No. 4 Grand Valley State 57-56. The Lakers dropped to No. 8 in the country as a result.

Sophomore Isabella Lenz hit the game-winning jump shot as time expired and the Huskies trailed by as many as 14 points in the game.

The Huskies rank seventh in Division II free throw percentage (79.5 percent), ninth in turnovers per game (12.4 tpg), 11th in 3-point percentage (37.3 percent), and 24th in field goal percentage (44.5 percent). 

Lenz ranks fifth in the GLIAC in 3-point percentage and assists and Alex Rondorf checks in fifth in rebounds per game. The Huskies ranked third in Monday's week 10 D2SIDA Midwest Region Rankings poll, behind Ashland (20-0) and Drury (18-1). 

Michigan Tech has nine games remaining in the regular season. The GLIAC quarterfinals are scheduled for March 1 (high seeds host).
