Bretzke Joins Huskies for 2019-20 Season

HOUGHTON, Mich. - The Michigan Tech women's basketball program and Head Coach Sam Hoyt are pleased to announce the addition of Abby Bretzke to the program for the 2019-20 season. Bretzke has made a commitment to enroll at Michigan Tech as a student and be part of the program as a preferred walk-on.

"Abby is a great addition to our Michigan Tech Women's Basketball family," Coach Hoyt said. "She's an exceptional student who is also a really good athlete. She's the type of person who will work extremely hard and bring an undeniable energy that can only make us better. I'm excited that she will be a Husky next year."

Bretzke, a guard who hails from Beulah, Michigan, preps at Benzie Central High School where she averaged 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals per game as a junior in 2017-18. She was an All-Conference and Second Team All-Region honoree following the 2017-18 campaign. In the classroom, Bretzke is a member of National Honors Society and plans to major in Biomedical Engineering at Michigan Tech.

The Huskies are 19-8 overall and 15-4 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as they get ready to battle rival Northern Michigan on Senior Day in the regular season finale at the SDC Gym. Thursday night's tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. eastern time.
