HOUGHTON, Mich. — Kylie Moxley set a school record with 15 field goals and came within three of the scoring mark with 34 points as Michigan Tech defeated Northwood 69-60 at the SDC Gym.

The Timberwolves (15-11, 11-9 GLIAC) closed within six several times in the second half, but the Huskies (17-7, 15-5 GLIAC) had the answer each time.

Tech grabbed a 31-29 lead at halftime after a tightly-played opening 20 minutes that saw the Huskies attempt just one 3-pointer—a Moxley make.

Northwood scored just two points through the first seven minutes of the third quarter and didn't make a basket until the 2:51 mark. The Black and Gold put together a 14-0 run during that stretch for a 16-point advantage.

NU was back within six just one minute into the fourth quarter, but back-to-back buckets from Moxley and Danielle Blake made for a 10-point cushion. The Timberwolves were again within six in the final minute, but Mackenzie Perttu had two free throws and a layup to seal the win.

"This was an awesome way for us to respond to Saturday's loss (at Saginaw)," said Tech coach Kim Cameron. "It was clear early that Kylie was going to have to have a big game, and she did.

"Another key was defense. Northwood's a very good team. For us to hold them to 10 in the third quarter and get some separation was big."

Moxley's career-high came on 15-of-22 shooting including 2-of-3 3-pointers and just a single free throw. Perttu tallied her third double-double of the season with 10 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Blake posted eight points, seven rebounds and a school record-tying seven blocked shots.

Tech finished at 48 percent from the floor compared to NU's 35 percent. The Huskies attempted a season-low seven 3-pointers on the evening, with Moxley having the only two makes.

Michigan Tech will continue its three-game home stand to end the regular season on Saturday (Feb. 20) with a 1 p.m. tipoff vs. Lake Superior State.

Notes: The previous record for field goals made was 14 held by Jillian Ritchie (Feb. 19, 2015 at Northwood) and Lora Haltenhoff (Dec. 12, 1981 vs. Ferris State) … The school record for points in a game is 37 held by Sam Hoy (Feb. 25, 2012 vs. Northwood) … Blake matched the blocks record, which she already shared (Jan. 28, 2016 at Northwood and Jan. 29, 2015 vs. Northwood) with Lisa Staehlin (Mar. 11, 2011 vs. Lewis).
