HOUGHTON, Mich. — Michigan Tech got a career-high 22 points from Lindsay Winter and 18 more from Kylie Moxley to defeat Ferris State 74-53 at the SDC Gym tonight. The Huskies led by 12 at the half and pulled away to improve to 14-6 overall, 12-4 in the GLIAC and 8-0 at home.

"We had great defensive effort today," said Tech coach Kim Cameron. "We executed our game plan very well.

"Moxley continued to show the toughness she's had in the second half of the season, and Lindsay really played up to her capabilities tonight."

Winter's first career 20-point game came on 8-of-12 shooting. She had nine points in the opening half and knocked down three 3-pointers in the third quarter to spark Tech's run. The 5-6 guard added six rebounds and six steals in the contest.

Moxley's 18 points came on just eight shots (6-of-8).

Elisa Jurmu recorded a career-high 11 points while Morgan Anderson became the fourth Husky in double figures with 10.

Danielle Blake and Elizabeth Kelliher combined for just one point in the contest, but their presence was felt on the defensive end. The two combined for nine blocks. Blake also posted a season-high 13 rebounds.

The Bulldogs (4-18, 4-12 GLIAC) were within nine under a minute in the first half. Less than two minutes into the second half, the margin was 20 thanks to Winter's second triple.

Tech shot 42 percent from the field and made 15-of-18 free throws. The visitors shot 39 percent and 11-of 16 at the line.

The main difference in the stats was turnovers. Tech committed eight. FSU committed 18, which the Huskies turned into 25 points.

Michigan Tech will face co-GLIAC North leader Grand Valley State on Saturday (Feb. 6). Due to a 5:07 hockey start in the SDC that afternoon, tipoff is set for 12 noon.
