HOUGHTON, Mich. — Michigan Tech controlled play on both ends of the floor in a 63-44 GLIAC women's basketball victory over Ohio Dominican today at the SDC Gym. Morgan Anderson and Danielle Blake combined for 31 of the Huskies' 63 points.
Tech (6-3, 4-1 GLIAC) jumped out to a 22-7 advantage after just one quarter and saw the 15-point margin grow to 20 at halftime. The point differential was never less than 17 the rest of the game.
"Our focus today was defense, and I thought we executed really well," said Tech coach Kim Cameron. "Our first half might have been our best half of the year with the intensity we showed."
Ohio Dominican (8-3, 3-2 GLIAC) shot 29 percent for the game and made only one 3-pointer. Tech shot at a 58 percent clip in the first half and finished at 38 percent for the game. The hosts finished with six triples.
Anderson had five of those 3-pointers as part of a game-high 17 points.
Tech set season highs in both blocks and steals with 11 apiece. Blake had four steals and four blocks to go with four assists and a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Huskies' freshman Elizabeth Kelliher had a career day with 10 points, four rebounds and four blocks.
Michigan Tech, which is now 4-0 at home, will play again tomorrow with a 2 p.m. tipoff vs. Tiffin.
