Blake Gains WBCA All-America Honors

ATLANTA, Ga. — Michigan Tech's Danielle Blake (Midland, Mich.) earned All-America Honorable Mention from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) it was announced late yesterday. The junior forward is the sixth Huskies' player in the last seven years to gain All-America honors.

Blake led the Huskies in scoring (13.0 points per game), rebounding (7.5 per game), assists (106), blocks (62) and steals (60). The 6-0 forward had already earned Daktronics All-Midwest Region Second Team, All-GLIAC First Team, GLIAC All-Defensive Team and GLIAC All-Tournament Team honors this season. She turned in six 20+ point games and five double-doubles on the season in addition to helping the Huskies possess the best scoring defense in the GLIAC and Midwest Region.

Other recent Tech women's basketball All-Americans were Katie Wysocky (2008-09 and 2009-10), Lucy Dernovsek (2010-11) and Sam Hoyt (2011-12 and 2012-13).

Michigan Tech compiled a 28-3 overall record in 2014-15 for the fourth-most wins in program history. The Huskies also won the GLIAC North Division, had the league's best overall record and claimed the GLIAC Tournament title before hosting the NCAA Midwest Regional for the third time in the last six years.
