Nordic Huskies Set for CCSA Championships

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech Nordic Ski team is onto the postseason, traveling to Duluth, Minnesota, for the CCSA Conference Championships this weekend with the Classic Mass Start 20km on Saturday and the Skate Interval Start 7.5km Sunday.

The Huskies are trending upwards, concluding the regular season with its first CCSA combined team win at the Ariens CCSA Invite in Brillion, Wisconsin, on Jan. 27-28.

The women's squad swept the podium in the 7.5km Skate Interval Start to open the Ariens CCSA Invite, led by Anabel Needham, taking the first step. Synne Herheim and Olivia Laven joined Needham on the podium, placing second and third, respectively.

The Huskies saw notable performances from its freshmen core of Hailee Zimpel (7th place), Greta Hansen (8th place) and Bridget Burns (9th place), placing among the top-10.

The men saw two podium finishes in Saturday's skate race, led by Henry Snider taking the silver medal as Skylar Patten claimed bronze.

Colin Freed and Tryg Solberg also had notable finishes in fifth and sixth place, respectively.

Michigan Tech's Marie Sølverud Wangen and Jasper Johnston took silver in Sunday's mixed-gender relay to conclude the weekend of racing.
