Skiers begin championship season Saturday in Ishpeming

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech Nordic ski teams are traveling to Ishpeming to race in the CCSA Championships at Al Quaal Recreational Area. The Huskies will race in a 15/20K mass start skate on Saturday followed by a 5/10K individual start classic on Sunday.

"I'm looking forward to having another mass start race this season," senior Mark Ousdigian said. "The course has a lot of up hills and down hills, so it'll be fun to work with teammates on drafting and positioning."

"You have to utilize your strengths with some big climbs," Oda Hovland said. "It's a very technical course and then the last two K are flat, so you just have to go all out to the finish."

Tech had last weekend off and Mary Lyon talked about what she did during the downtime, "It was just nice to relax a little bit and soak in some training. This week we were able to do what we felt like we individually needed going into the weekend."
