Kautzer Named a Google Cloud Academic All-American
HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech Nordic skier Amanda Kautzer has been named an Academic All-American, as selected by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She was honored on the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division II Women's At-Large Team.
A junior from Plymouth, Minnesota, Kautzer was the champion in the 15k classic at the 2019 NCAA Central Region Skiing Championships and competed for Michigan Tech at the 2019 NCAA Skiing Championships, where she finished in the top 20 in the 15k classic. Her stellar season earned her a pair of All-Region honors and a First Team All-CCSA accolade, in addition to being named the team's Most Improved Skier, the Scholastic Achievement Award recipient, and a share of the Most Oustanding Women's Skier Award.
A member of two consecutive United States Collegiate Ski Association (USCSCA) All-Academic Teams, Kautzer finished the 2018-19 Nordic ski season with a 4.0 grade-point average as a Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering dual major.
In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must be a key contributor in the field of their sport and carry a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average at their current institution. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Division II Academic All-America® teams program. The at-large program for the Google Cloud Academic All-America® program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; bowling, crew and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men.
