Lee Named CCSA Athlete of the Week

HOUGHTON, Mich. — Michigan Tech skier Andrea Lee (Campbell River, B.C.) earned Central Collegiate Ski Association Athlete of the Week honors for her performance at the NCAA Central Regional in Ishpeming last weekend.

The Huskies' senior brought home a third place finish in Saturday's five kilometer freestyle race, where she finished 20 seconds from the lead. In Sunday's 15k Classic mass start, she won by an impressive 16 seconds. Lee sat in the lead pack for the majority of the race waiting for her moment to attack. As the leaders hit the half way point on the last lap, Lee upped the tempo on the second climb of that lap to pull away from the field.

The race win was Lee's second on the season, following a freestyle victory at the Telemark Super Tour on Jan. 24.

Lee is one of four Tech athletes in line to ski at the NCAA Championships in Steamboat Springs, Colo., on Mar. 9-12.
