Skiers Wrap Up Competition at NCAAs

NCAA Championships Classic Races: Women's 15K | Men's 20K

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — The Michigan Tech Nordic skiing teams wrapped up competition at the NCAA Championships with classic races today. Deedra Irwin had the top finish of Tech's four athletes at the event.

Irwin raced the 15 kilometers in 50:25 to place 19th. Her teammate Alice Flanders was eight spots back in 27th. She completed the course in 51:57.

Tom Bye posted a 32nd-place showing by covering the 20K men's course in 1:00:01. Haakon Hjelstuen notched a 1:00:44 two spots back.

"It was a solid day for us," said Tech coach Joe Haggenmiler. "Both the women scored team points for us. Deedra had her best-ever finish at the NCAAs, and Tom had a really good showing as a true freshman."

Michigan Tech wrapped up its team season today.
