Cross Country Teams Earn Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS - The Michigan Tech cross country teams were recently honored for academics by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Both the men's and women's cross country teams were named scholar teams. The men's teams posted a team cumulative grade point average of 3.29 and was one of eight teams from the GLIAC honored. The women's squad posted a grade point average of 3.48 and were one of 11 conference teams to earn the award.

In addition to the team awards, four women earned individual awards for academics. Sarah Daniels, Amanda Halonen, Christina Mishica and Marissa Yovetich each earned Div. II Cross Country All-Academic honors. To earn the award a student-athlete must have a 3.25 cumulative grade point average and finish in the top-50 percent at the NCAA National Championships or the top-30 percent at the NCAA Regional Championships.
