Four Huskies tabbed All-GLIAC for Tennis

GLIAC – The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its selections for All-GLIAC tennis honors Friday (April 21). Four Michigan Tech student-athletes were recognized, including Dominika Bobik (first team), Grace Eland (second team), Vitor Jordao (second team), and Nikolai Prosjanykov (honorable mention).

Senior Dominika Bobik (Wroclaw, Poland) also earned first team All-GLIAC as a freshman and has been All-GLIAC second team (2020-21) and All-GLIAC honorable mention (2021-22) for the Huskies. Currently ranked No. 31 in doubles with Eland, Bobik is 7-7 at No. 1 doubles and 7-6 at No. 1 singles this spring. She has been nationally ranked as high as No. 71 in singles. Bobik closes her distinguished career this season after beginning in 2019-20 as GLIAC Freshman of the Year.

Graduate student Grace Eland (Penrith, England) transferred to Michigan Tech after starting her collegiate career at University of South Florida. Eland is 7-5 singles this spring playing at No. 2 in the lineup. Eland and Bobik head into the GLIAC quarterfinals having won three straight doubles matches together at No. 1. 

Jordao (Recife, Brazil) earned All-GLIAC recognition for the first time in his Husky career. Jordao began with four singles matches in 2019-20, then did not compete in 2020-21. Last year, he appeared in 11 singles matches at No. 2 before taking over the top spot in the lineup this spring. Jordao won a pair of matches at No. 1 singles for the Huskies.

Jordao played doubles with junior Nikolai Prosjanykov (Santiago, Chile) and the duo went 4-5 this season. Prosjanykov earned All-GLIAC honorable mention for the first time in his career after he appeared in 13 singles matches and posted three wins at No. 3 and one win at No. 2. Prosjanykov came to Tech as a freshman in 2020-21 and played in six matches, seeing time at No. 1 singles and No. 3 doubles.
