Men's Tennis Returns from Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, S.C. — The Michigan Tech men's tennis team played four matches during its spring break week in South Carolina. The Huskies dropped all four matches including one against a Division I foe.

Tech opened Mar. 8 with a 6-3 decision vs. Davis & Elkins. Built Yumuang and Nick Kremkow both won singles matches in straight sets. The two then paired for an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles, accounting for all three Huskies' points.

Two days later, the Black and Gold faced Florida Tech. The Panthers defeated the Huskies 9-0. Tech had its closest matches at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles. The Yumuang/Kremkow pairing fell 9-7 at No. 1 while Javier Oliveros and Robin Duhnsen posted a 9-7 score at No. 2.

Tech's third match came against Edinboro with a 7-2 score. Yumuang picked up his second No. 3 singles win of the trip with an 8-2 pro-set decision. Oliveros and Duhnsen were also 8-2 winners at No. 2 doubles.

The Huskies' final match was against Division I George Mason. Duhnsen posted a 6-3, 7-6 (3) victory at No. 2 singles for Tech's lone point in the contest.

Michigan Tech has a 1-7 overall record as it gets set for a four-match home stretch. First up at Gates Tennis Center is Walsh on Saturday (Mar. 21) at 10 a.m.
