Logan Pietila signs in AHL with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

WILKES-BARRE TWP, Pa. – Michigan Tech fifth-year forward Logan Pietila signed a professional contract with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the American Hockey League for the 2024-25 season. He will join the team immediately on an amateur tryout agreement. The Penguins are affiliated with the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins.

Pietila appeared in 180 games for the Huskies, tying the all-time games played record. The two-time captain tallied 98 career points with 45 goals and 53 assists, registering 20 points in four of his five seasons. He scored 13 game-winning goals and six power-play goals in his career. As a senior, Pietila tallied a career-best 29 points with 13 goals and 16 assists.

Pietila is a native of Howell, Michigan, and was a CCHA Scholar-Athlete and member of the CCHA All-Academic Team. He was MVP of the 2019 Great Lakes Invitational after scoring a hat trick in the title game. In his career, he has earned three team awards, the Norbert Matovich Memorial Outstanding Freshman Award, the Elov Seger Memorial Most Improved Player award, and the George McCarthy Performance Award for scholastic and athletic achievement.

The Penguins are fourth in the AHL Atlantic Division with a 33-22 record. Former Husky Matthew Quercia is currently on the roster. Quercia and Pietila were Tech teammates during the 2021-22 season.
