Tech Selected to NCAA Tournament; Play St. Cloud Friday in Fargo

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech was selected as an at-large bid to the 2015 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament on Sunday (March 21). The Huskies are a No. 2 seed in the West Region and will play the St. Cloud State Huskies on Friday (March 27) at 4:30 p.m. Eastern at Scheels Arena in Fargo, N.D.

Tech will make its 11th all-time appearance in the tournament and first in 34 years. The 1981 team, that featured current head coach Mel Pearson as a player, finished third in the nation.

St. Cloud State was ranked No. 18 in last week's poll and are 19-18-1 overall. SCSU won its last four games before falling to Miami in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Tournament Championship Game on Saturday (March 20).

Tech is 29-9-2 overall and has the most wins in program history since the 1981 season. The Black and Gold are unbeaten in 14 of their last 16 games and are tied with Minnesota State for the most wins in the country.

The winner of the Michigan Tech vs. St. Cloud State game will advance to play North Dakota or Quinnipiac for the West Regional Championship and a spot in the Frozen Four in Boston.
