Heinonen Named WCHA Offensive Player of the Week

EDINA, Minn. – Michigan Tech forward Tyler Heinonen was named WCHA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday (March 9). The sophomore had three goals in Tech's WCHA series sweep of Northern Michigan on the final weekend of the regular season.

Heinonen, a native of Delano, Minn., scored Tech's third and fifth goals in a 5-1 victory on Friday. Saturday, he scored a power-play goal to open the game's scoring in a 3-1 win. Five of his 11 goals this season have come against the Wildcats. He also has six assists in his second season with the Huskies.

No. 4 Michigan Tech hosts Alabama Huntsville in the first round of the WCHA tournament this weekend. The Huskies are the No. 2 seed and the Chargers are No. 7. The two teams met four times during the regular season with the Huskies winning all four games and outscoring the Chargers 25-5.

This weekend's games begin at 7:07 p.m. all three nights. Tickets are on sale now for the home playoff series. Reserved adult seats are $17 and reserved youth seats are $10.
