Charlie Kemppainen begins his fifth season as a part-time assistant coach with the Michigan Tech men’s basketball team in 2017-18.

Kemppainen was the head men’s basketball coach at Finlandia University for nine seasons (2002-11).

Prior to his time at Finlandia, Kemppainen was the head boy’s coach at Hancock Central High School. He coached the Bulldogs for nine years and won the 2000-01 Class D District Championship.

He was also an assistant coach with the Finlandia Lions softball team that qualified for the NCAA Division III tournament in 2012-13.
